We have been learning about habitats. Our Reading learning goals are;
Can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words.Identify at least one important idea and justify why it is important,
Use questions to challenge the text,question the author, establish the authenticity of the text and state opinions.
Use prior knowledge to connect to the text. Make connections between texts, using more sophisticated texts.
The habitats we have learned about are; Wetlands, Alpine, Marine – Estuaries, Marine – coastal, Freshwater and Drylands. We learnt about what animals, plants and others thing lived there, we also learnt about where in New Zealand we can each find habitat.
We had to do a some tasks to go with them, there was one task we added to after reading about each one. I will link all my task below.
Habitat must do– We had to write about what we learnt and then we had to find were each habitat is in New Zealand.
Urban Land Area task- We had to answer questions about graphs we had looked at.
Reading Create- We had to make a post card and pretend we were in a habitat.
Extra task- We had to pretend we are a town planner and create our own town using google drawings
My favourite part about this was learning about all the types of habitats.
What is your favourite thing to do in school? Have you ever been to any of these?
