St Gianna Beretta Molla

This week in RE we were learning about Confirmation. Confirmation is when you choose to stay with god all your life and you give your life to him. I am preparing  to make my Confirmation right now. When you make your Confirmation you pick a saint that you pray  and you look up to. I have picked St Gianna Beretta Molla. You also pick a sponsor who is normally a godparent or a another adult. A bishop usually performs the sacrament. He lays his hands on the person’s head and anoints them with holy oil called chrism.
The bishop anoints the person with chrism, a special oil. This anointing is a sign of being chosen and strengthened by the Holy Spirit. We had to create a fact file on a saint we picked and I did St Gianna Beretta Molla. Here is my fact file. click on the image to look closer

Have you made you Confirmation?

RE Baptism

This week in RE we learnt about the Sacrament of Baptism. We filled a slideshow in and answered questions about our Baptism.

The questions were:

How do you think your baptism made your family feel?

What does your baptism mean to you today?

What symbols reflect Baptism?

Do you think Baptism is a joyous occasion? Why or why not?

Here Is my slideshow

Have you been Baptized? If you have can you answer these questions?

RE THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY

This week we have been learning about The Assumption of Mary. The Assumption of Mary is when Mary went up to heaven body and soul and if you think about it that does not sound correct because we normally only go up soul and our body stays her on earth. But Mary was special, Mary was the mother of Jesus and was faithful to God all the time. Mary went through that pain of watching her son die and still had faith in God.  Me and Eden made a poster about the Assumption click on the image to read it.

What did you already know about The Assumption of Mary? What did learn?

Reading Olympics

In Reading we have been learning about the Olympics mainly the ancient Olympics. We learnt about The Origins of the Olympics, The Athlete, The Sports on the Programme. We read all these articles about each one and then filled out a slide show with an activity.

Something really cool I learnt was that because they did not wear anything they covered there bodies with olive oil and sand.
Here is my slide show

Did you learn anything cool? What is your favorite thing about the Olympics?

Holy Spirit in the Bible

In RE we were learning about Holy Spirit in the Bible. We had to do some research about stories in the bible then we had to make a poster about it. We also had to write the differences about holy spirit in the new and old testament.

here is my poster. click on the image to read it.

What do you know about the bible?

Statistics

In math we have been doing Statistics and in PBL we have been learning about habitats. We did math about habitats, the teachers gave us data and we had to write 3 I wonder questions, then we made a graph with the data we choose. After we had a good look at it we wrote 3 I notice statements. We had to find the Mode, Mean, Median and  Range. We did all this work on a sped sheet and then added it to a google drawing. click on the photo to get a better look.

Do you like Statistics?

Statistics

We have just started Statistics in math and today we had to pick a question and then go around our math class and ask for answers, my question was what is your favorite sport. Frist thing I did was create a google sheet and named it, then I wrote the question down and then I asked people then  I created a tally chart . After I used that data to create a bar graph then I had a look and wrote some I notice statements about it. Here is my google sheet. click on the image to see it bigger.

What is your favorite sport? Have you learned about Statistics?

Rad Reading

We have been learning about habitats. Our Reading learning goals are;

Can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words.Identify at least one important idea and justify why it is important,

Use questions to challenge the text, question the author, establish the authenticity of the text and state opinions.

Use prior knowledge to connect to the text. Make connections between texts, using more sophisticated texts.

The habitats we have learned about are; Wetlands, Alpine, Marine – Estuaries, Marine – coastal, Freshwater and Drylands. We learnt about what animals, plants and others thing lived there, we also learnt about where in New Zealand we can each find habitat.

We had to do a some tasks to go with them, there was one task we added to after reading about each one. I will link all my task below.

Habitat must do– We had to write about what we learnt and then we had to find were each habitat is in New Zealand.

Urban Land Area task- We had to answer questions about graphs we had looked at.

Reading Create- We had to make a post card and pretend we were in a habitat.

Extra task- We had to pretend we are a town planner and create our own town using google drawings

My favourite part about this was learning about all the types of habitats.

What is your favourite thing to do in school? Have you ever been to any of these?
